Event information
The Waterfront Rotary Club hosts the only timed urban canal swim in Africa at Battery Park in the V&A Waterfront to raise funds to support their projects. Two of the projects that they support are the Christine Revell Children's Home and the Salesians Institute.
The Christine Revell Children's Home is dedicated to caring for children up to the age of five who have either been neglected, abandoned, abused of orphaned. The Salesian institute provides education and training in a professional, caring, and secure environment to youth from at-risk backgrounds.
The charity will also be in partnership with the Roxy Foundation to allow swimmers of all abilities to participate. The event is made up of a one mile (1600m) and a half-mile (800m) open water swimming session starting at Battery Park, following a circular route past the One & Only Hotel and finishing back at Battery Park.
Participants can also witness some of South Africa’s top swimmers compete in the invitation-only Elite 1-mile swim for the Waterfront Canal Challenge Theodore Yach Elite Mile Trophy.
