Event information
The Waterfront Canal Challenge returns as a one-of-a-kind open-water event set in the heart of Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. As Africa’s only timed urban canal swim, it offers participants a rare opportunity to move through the city from a completely different perspective, combining physical endurance with a strong sense of community. Open to both experienced swimmers and those seeking a new challenge, the event creates an inclusive and energetic atmosphere where personal goals and collective purpose meet.
More than just a race, the challenge is rooted in impact. Organised by the Rotary Club of Waterfront, the event channels its proceeds into local development and empowerment initiatives, ensuring that every participant contributes to meaningful change. The theme, “Turning Tides into Tomorrow,” reflects a shared commitment to building a better future through collaboration and action.
