Underhill Farm is an eco-friendly guest house dedicated to sustainable living by example through upcycling, recycling, and reusing every possible aspect on the property. The farm itself is a green oasis nestled in the Botrivier Valley between two streams and surrounded by apple and wine farms. Offering both beautiful scenes and sustainable living.
Every window and door has been upcycled ~ nothing is purchased new. Wine bottles become windows, pallets become furniture and discarded coffee bags become ceilings.
The Rivendell Cottage
Rivendell is perfect for weekend getaways for a family or small group of friends. Enjoy a dip in the plunge pool whilst taking in the view of the stream and mountains in the distance. A large covered stoep with braai and lounge area are perfect for evening braais, and enjoying the silence of nature.

The Hobbit Hollow
This hobbit inspired cottage is built into the riverbank and has been created with the nature lover in mind. It’s the last and most secluded cottage on the Botrivier side of the farm, with a private stone weir natural river pool for swimming and a covered outdoor dining area and terraced braai area.

Oak Cottage
Oak cottage is a cosy and romantic little getaway nestled just downstream from Hobbit Hollow overlooking the riverbank. It’s built beneath the broad oak trees that grow there so it’s always shaded and cool in summer and offers breathtaking views of the farm with Franschhoek mountains in the distance.

Earthship
The most recent build on the farm, which has been named the Earthship, as it is built into the south facing slope with a grass roof. It’s wonderfully cool in summer and with the clerestory windows and greenhouse corridor to the north it captures the full winter sun. The garden is covered by poplars creating a cool summer space with a fire pit next to the river to enjoy the sounds of the stream flowing right next to you and the sounds of the birds in the forest.
