The Two Oceans Aquarium hosts a free volunteer beach cleanup in Milnerton, the last of four editions scheduled for 2026 across different Cape Town beaches. The initiative targets plastic pollution and raises awareness of its effects on marine ecosystems, with families encouraged to take part.
The Trash Bash is a monthly initiative by the Two Oceans Aquarium that takes place at a different Cape Town beach each edition. The Aquarium is a member of the Mission Blue Hope Spot Network, a global initiative led by oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle, which designates special areas of the ocean to support marine biodiversity.
Participants are encouraged to bring a bucket, drinking water, a hat, and reusable gloves.
