The Spice Route is a collaboration of artisans showcasing their products in the beautiful Paarl valley.
Visitors purchase a 'Tasting Passport' and visit each location at Spice Route for a tasting experience - beer tasting at Cape Brewing Company (CBC), ice cream at DV Cafe, chocolate and confectionary at De Villiers chocolate, Richard Bosman's charcuterie, gin and grappa at the Wilderer Distillery and Swartland wines. The estate overlooks the Winelands, framed by table mountain, and guests can linger for lunch or dinner at the Barley & Biltong beer garden, Bertus Basson's South African-themed restaurant, or La Grapperia Bistro and Pizzeria. Artisans are not limited to perishables - molten glass blowers, David Jackson and Liz Lacey of Red Hot Glass showcase their works, and a gift shop stocks handmade clothes, bags, jewelry, and ceramics.
