The annual Franschhoek Literary Festival returns with a jam-packed and highly anticipated programme.
This year's edition offers a captivating lineup of renowned local, pan-African and international authors as literary enthusiasts make their way to what is frequently regarded as "the literary event of the year".
The festival also boasts an eclectic mix of voices from various genres, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to engage with celebrated authors and discover new literary gems. The programme offers an enriching experience featuring a wide variety of thought-provoking panel discussions, in-depth author interviews, interactive writing workshops, live poetry readings and engaging performances celebrating the power of storytelling.
Among this year’s headline speakers are internationally acclaimed historian Peter Frankopan, beloved author and illustrator Charlie Mackesy, political thinker Francis Fukuyama, bestselling novelist Alka Joshi, Booker Prize-shortlisted author Tan Twan Eng, and celebrated South African crime writer Deon Meyer. Festival-goers can also look forward to appearances by prominent local voices, including Justice Malala, Mandy Wiener, Qaanitah Hunter, Gcina Mhlophe, Max du Preez and Zapiro.
