It’s one of the original live jazz venues in the heart of Cape Town’s city centre and is frequented by tourists and locals.
Straight-ahead jazz powered by upright bass fits the dinner jazz brief, but sometimes you’ll also get to hear the likes of fusion, salsa, Congolese rumba and African jazz.
Open for dinner and drinks from Tuesday through Saturday. Live music is from 8pm to 11pm. Dress code: smart casual.
Join in on a Wednesday night for The Crypt Jazz Jam, which features some of the freshest talent in town – this is a live jazz gig with an impromptu jam. All jammers welcome. A reduced cover charge of R100 gets you in the door. These sessions tend to be packed, so be sure to book.
The Crypt caters for private and business events. The restaurant houses 100 people for a seated dinner, and up to 200 people with a different layout arrangement.
