Event information
The Cowshed's products tell stories of local communities and makers. The shop is a combination of an art gallery shop and farm padstal, with a high street curatorial hand weaving it all together.
A wood-burning stove warms the space in winter, with cosy seating and worn-in Persians underfoot inviting you to take it easy.
Visitors can experience layers of fragrance and a sense of homemade in every element, whether spun, carved, woven, knitted, hand-loomed, picked from the garden, painted, or paginated. Gifts come wrapped in layers of tissue, in ribbon-tied gift bags that make Cowshed gifts feel as good to give as they are to receive.
The shop is a tribute to responsible sourcing and the striving of artisans connected to the earth, communities and each other.
Housed in one of the oldest buildings on The Werf, The Cowshed is more than a shop. Visitors are greeted by collections that honour ethical craftsmanship and support creative entrepreneurs whose vision is to make beautiful things, in collections that keep changing seasonally.
Browse from hand-thrown, handspun and hand-carved collectible homewares to books, toys, candles, bags and hats by local artisans and designers. In the far corner at the back, you can fine organic farm produce, the farm's top wines and deli favourites, including Farmer Angus’s produce in the freezer.
And, to one side, a full-scale apothecary of healing teas and tinctures that beg to be sampled and explored.
