Event information
The stage musical based on the 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner receives its South African premiere at the Artscape Opera House, presented by Showtime Management. The story follows superstar Rachel Marron and the bodyguard hired to protect her, as fame, danger and desire collide and an unexpected romance develops.
The score is built around Houston’s biggest hits, including I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Queen of the Night, I Have Nothing, Run to You and So Emotional.
Singer Belinda Davids plays Rachel Marron, her first role in musical theatre. Her four-octave vocal range mirrors Houston’s. The production features an all-South African cast, crew and live band.
