Event information
The annual African Bank Soweto marathon returns and it is is no ordinary race. Dubbed "The People's Race", the marathon has a special place in the hearts of many South African runners.
It is the only race of its magnitude set in a township.
It is made up of a standard marathon of 42.2 kilometres, a half marathon of 21.1 kilometres, and a 10-kilometre run. The race takes place at the beautiful FNB Stadium in the vibrant, historical Soweto Township, just outside the city centre of Johannesburg, this is both the start and finish venue.
Each entrant receives a race pack; which contains a race number, free t-shirt, timing chip and race number / bib; as well as a commemorative medal.
