For decades TEARS has been rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming hundreds of animals each year, turning tears of sadness into tears of joy.
TEARS provides free sterilisation and subsidised medical assistance to the low-income communities covering 250 square kilometres across the southern Cape Peninsula.
The support received enables them to visit vulnerable communities daily to collect and transport animals for sterilisation, provide basic animal healthcare such as vaccination and pest control as well as rescue homeless, unwanted and injured animals.
Supporters and volunteers are vital in creating happy lives for the 100 dogs and puppies and 140 cats and kittens in their care. TEARS relies on the generosity of volunteers to invest their time together with their big hearts to help TEARS fulfil its mission to improve the lives of neglected, abused and unwanted companion animals. Anyone can put their spare time to good use as a TEARS volunteer.
People can assist by visiting the animals, sorting books in the charity shops, assisting with fundraising or getting involved in the education outreach programme. For whatever skill you have, TEARS has a need that you can fill.
