The 7th International Marine Conservation Congress presents an evening of conservation stories from indigenous, local and international scientists, artists, and community leaders.
The event is dedicated to highlighting innovative efforts in ocean conservation and showcasing inspiring stories of resilience. Blending scientific knowledge with cultural expression, it aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and public engagement, with all proceeds from the event going towards supporting local conservation efforts.
Key speakers include Sinegugu Zukulu and Nonhle Mbuthuma on indigenous struggles to protect South Africa’s Wild Coast from oil exploration, Dr. Karin Moejes on coral reef restoration, and Dr. Bruce Mann on monitoring South Africa's Pondoland Marine Protected Area.
Also featured are Dr. Jennifer O'Leary on empowering East African fishing communities, Talitha Noble-Trull on sea turtle conservation and the upcoming launch of Africa’s first standalone turtle hospital, and Dr. Alison Kock on re-imagining conservation for people and nature.
