Smile FM hosts a 5km walk, asking Capetonians to take a stand against gender-based violence in South Africa.
Participants can choose to partake in an individual walk or a family walk, which allows prams and children under 12 to participate. The annual event also features a family-filled morning of entertainment, with acts to be announced before the event begins. The event also includes a designated children's area for kids under 12, a picnic area where participants can bring and set up their own picnics, and a variety of food trucks.
After weeks of increased scrutiny on the government following several cases of GBV, Take A Step enables participants to meaningfully contribute to the welfare of survivors, as proceeds from the event go in support of local organisations and care facilities working to end gender-based violence.
