Swartland Olive Festival

Event information

The Swartland Olive Festival returns to Riebeek Kasteel's historic town square for its second edition, following a successful first year after a six-year hiatus. The three-day event centres on the region's olive and wine production, with tastings, chef demonstrations, an artisanal market and family entertainment across the weekend.

Visitors can sample extra virgin olive oils, table olives and tapenades from Western Cape producers, alongside wines from the surrounding Swartland region. Live music runs throughout the weekend, including folk duo RAAF on Saturday and singer-songwriter Robin Auld on Sunday, with additional performers still to be confirmed. A dedicated kids' zone includes magic shows and jumping castles, with extra activities added for the Sunday family day.

New for 2026, the festival opens with a Friday evening Street Party, transforming Plein Street into a separate ticketed event featuring food trucks, long-table dining, street performers and a DJ set, expanding the festival beyond its original town square footprint.

Local residents can buy discounted weekend passes directly from the Swartland Tourism office rather than online. Children under 8 enter free throughout the weekend when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.
