Event information
Open to the public, SU Botanical Gardens offers carefully curated displays highlighting South African biomes, conservation issues, medicinal plants, and research collections from across the world.
As an accredited member of Botanic Gardens Conservation International, the garden plays an important role in education and conservation. It also supports teaching and research at Stellenbosch University, making it both a public attraction and an academic resource.
Located in the historical centre of Stellenbosch, visitors can enjoy a stroll among themed plant displays and collections, which are presented in a compact and accessible layout. The garden also has a café serving light meals and refreshments, and a gift shop with botanical-themed products.
Admission is R15 for adults and R10 for seniors, with free entry for Stellenbosch University students and staff. Annual passes are available, and groups may visit by prior arrangement. Children must be supervised, and professional photography requires a permit.
Picnics are allowed only on the designated lawn, and visitors are asked to follow garden rules to protect the collections and wildlife. Parking is available in nearby municipal and street parking areas.
