Event information
The Toy & Miniature Museum in Stellenbosch offers a detailed glimpse into childhood treasures, with displays ranging from antique dolls and dinky cars to intricate room boxes and cuddly toys. Located on Market Street behind the Visitors’ Bureau, it serves as a satellite of the Stellenbosch Museum.
Highlights include a lifelike 1:12 scale model of South Africa’s Blue Train, the only one of its kind in Africa. The train makes a full journey through miniature versions of Stellenbosch, the Cape Winelands, the mountains, and into the Karoo before looping back. Visitors can also see a 1920s matchbox-sized kitchen, a replica of the Uitkyk Wine Estate farmhouse with period-accurate rooms, and a collection of over 2,000 miniature cars, including dinky toys from the 1930s gifted by actor Limpie Basson.
