Established in 2010 as an online art market, StateoftheART re-imagines the brick-and-mortar art gallery experience for the digital age. It’s the brainchild of Jennifer Reynolds, whose career has spanned financial markets and technology sectors.
This gallery cum e-commerce website is a boutique style 'clicks-and-mortar' platform which represents selected emerging and mid-career visual artists from across South Africa.
It offers an extensive range of modern and contemporary art in a variety of mediums; painting, printmaking, fine art photography and sculpture: all available for instant purchase to collectors around the world, regardless of geography.
The majority of sale proceeds are returned to the artist who created the work, and a percentage also goes towards funding the StateoftheART Gallery Award, a not-for-profit initiative founded by the gallery in 2018 to promote artists who have yet to establish a profile on the contemporary local art scene. So, when you buy art from this gallery, you’re directly supporting artists.
