Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Africa’s premier jazz festival takes place at the end of September each year and features an exciting line-up of headlining jazz stars from across the world.
Over two fun-filled days, across the five stages, jazz lovers are reintroduced to the music, while novices discover the magic of jazz. On the Dinaledi Stage, attendees can bear witness to the musical stylings of Chris Botti (US), Matthew Halsall (UK), Sibongile Mngoma presenting Classical Jazzathon (SA), Feya Faku (SA), the Chucho Valdes Royal Quartet (Cuba), Victor Masondo (SA), and Darren English (SA) featuring Kenny Banks Jr. (US).
The Diphala stage features Lizz Wright (US) with guest artist Brenda Mtambo (SA), Spha Mdlalose (SA), Jessica Pina (Portugal), Sven Rozier Group featuring Ellister Van Der Molen (Netherlands), Mpumi Dlamini (SA), Mimi Mtshali (SA), and Prof Karen Devroop (SA). The Conga stage presents Keiko Matsui (Japan) featuring Nokukhanya Dlamini (SA), Sibusiso Mashiloane (SA), Siparia Deltones (Trinidad), Tutu Puoane (SA/Belgium), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), and Mandisi Dyantyis (SA).
The Mbira stage welcomes Joe Nina with the South African Air Force Band (SA), Maleh (Lesotho/SA), Micasa (SA), Vusi Nova (SA), Bongeziwe Mabandla (SA), a collaborative Tribute to Oliver Mtukudzi, Thandiswa Mazwai (SA) presenting Sankofa (Senegal), Iphupho L'ka Biko (SA), Mafikizolo (SA), and Ihashi Elimhlophe (SA). Finally, the Lounge stage presents Dj Kenzhero, Nothemba Madumo, & Tha Muzik (SA), Lulo Cafe (SA), and Black Love hosted by Just Themba (SA).
