Event information
South Shore Festival is reviving roots music, featuring 14 bands and artists over two nights at the Masque Theatre.
Over both nights, local roots musicians, poets, and storytellers share original songs, many of which honour South African artists who shaped the country's musical heritage. More than simply entertainment, these artists see this genre as a tool that shapes culture, community, and identity, with the festival serving as an example of this deeper connection.
Some of the acts include:
Veteran songwriter and guitarist Dax Butler, along with his band, The Fabulous Resentments.
Modern roots musician & Kommetjie local Mel Malisch and her band.
Robin Auld, Steve Walsh, and Tonia Moller performing separately and together as Tripolee.
Durban singer-songwriter John Ellis, founding member of Tree63.
And many more.
