A rare opportunity for Capetonians to see the Joburg-based Bassist Vimbs Mavimbs performing with other well known artists.
Thembinkosi ‘Vimbs Mavimbs’ Mavimbela studied a Bachelor of Music Degree (BMus) at the University of the Witwatersrand, majoring in Performance and Composition.
He has been active in the music industry since 2009 as a professional touring musician and has worked with orchestras such as Miagi Youth Orchestra since 2007, Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) and many others. He has also been highly involved with jazz combos such as the Ekaya Big Band with Abdullah Ibrahim, Themba Mkhize, Marcus Wyatt, the late Zim Ngqawana, Sibongile Khumalo, Hugh Masekela, Simphiwe Dana and many more.
