The Simply Gifts Market returns for its fifth edition in the grounds of Sans Souci Girls’ High School in leafy Newlands. It is curated by Pam and Peter Goslett, who bring more than 22 years of combined experience in running craft markets, including co-founding one of the Southern Suburbs’ largest. The market is an indoor and outdoor event, protected from the weather, with shopping indoors and in a tree-shaded courtyard where refreshments are served.
More than 200 local exhibitors show handcrafted homeware, needlecraft, garden art, plants, jams, sauces and other treats, and children’s gifts, books and clothing. Free craft workshops run in the courtyard every day for younger and older shoppers.
There is one central pay point that accepts debit and credit cards and SnapScan, as the market is cashless. Entry is free, with plenty of off-street parking, and the market is wheelchair friendly, with staff on hand to help. It supports Imbali Western Cape, a charity that uplifts communities through creative initiatives.
