Event information
Silvermine Nature Reserve forms part of the Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town and covers the section of the Cape Peninsula mountain range, from the Kalk Bay mountains through to Constantiaberg.
Trails are easy to follow but the weather can change quickly so it is important to have a good map. A full day of hiking could start at the Shark Spotter hut on Boyes Drive - from there to the top of the range where hikers can follow a rough Parks road to Ou Kaapse Weg (Old Cape Road). Hikers then cross the road and enter the Silvermine Reserve and on to the reservoir for a swim in deep red water. The trail continues left and right - left takes hikers to a high point above Hout Bay and right to The Elephant's Eye cave on the Constantiaberg. From there it's a long downhill to the Silvermine offices in Tokai.
