The Market Theatre Laboratory and TsaMmu, home of aspiring playwrights, screenwriters and new African writing, offers a part-time short film writing course.
This course offers a comprehensive approach to screenwriting, combining technical expertise with creative storytelling. Part one focuses on mastering screenwriting software, understanding the filmmaking process, and formatting scripts professionally.
Part two delves into story design, structure, and pitching, culminating in the enrolled participants writing and rewriting their own short film script. By the end, they'll possess the skills to craft a compelling script and effectively communicate their vision to the filmmaking team.
The course begins on 24 January 2026 and ends on 19 April 2026. Attendance in all sessions is required to successfully complete the course. Once a ticket is purchased, please register with the course administrator from 12 and 17 January 2026 between 11am and 6pm at the Market Square Complex.
Please note once a ticket is purchased, there will be no refund. Participants are rather encouraged to take the course in the next cycle.
