Event information
A floating cage is lowered into the water and secured to the side of the boat. Wet-suits, equipment and goggles are issued to the guests and a Videographer captures the action on video once the diving and shark activity begins (this video is available for purchase). Shark activity takes place on and just below the water surface so no scuba gear or diving certification is required as guests use a simple breath-holding technique for underwater viewing as sharks pass the cage.
Shark sightings generally occur throughout the year, however sightings of wild animals can never be guaranteed. In the unfortunate event that no sharks are sighted during the trip, a non-transferrable voucher will be provided (valid for two years) allowing guests to join WSDC for another trip free of charge on a date of their choice (dependent on availability).
Depending on weather and water conditions the time spent at sea from launch to return to the harbour is approximately two to three hours, and the exact dive/cage time as well as the number of dive sessions differs from day to day. When making a booking, participants should ensure that they have the full day available as WSDC cannot guarantee start or finish times in advance.
