Event information
Shangana has been created and built by the local Shangaan of Mpumalanga. The cultural village was constructed to preserve their heritage and to provide an example of South Africa's cultural diversity.
Situated midway between the Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park, picturesque villages are set in the shade of ancient trees in a reserve of forest and grassland. A bustling African market village forms the centre of Shangana, where local craftspeople make and trade their craft. From here, trained guides lead guests down to villages on one-hour daytime tours, midday tours with lunch, and to evening festivals in the chief's Royal Kraal.
Guests can enjoy feasts with local delicacies and traditional beer, and watch performers sing and dance as they share stories of the Shangaan.
