Event information
Operated on the grounds of Spier Wine Farm, this guided Segway tour service offers battery-powered excursions through the farm's certified organic vineyards, fynbos protea gardens and regenerative pastures.
Spier Wine Farm dates to 1692 and is one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa, known for its biodynamic farming methods and commitment to ecological restoration. Each tour begins with a 20-minute training session before guides lead groups of up to five participants along off-road tracks through the farm. The one-hour tour covers the farm's vineyards, protea garden and wastewater treatment facility. The two-hour tour extends into the wider vineyard blocks and regenerative pastures, with the option to encounter Farmer Angus McIntosh's free-range cattle and hens, and concludes with a Spier Signature wine tasting.
Sunset tour options are available in season, accompanied by a complimentary bottle of Spier Signature wine per two participants. Off-road e-scooters are also available as an alternative for participants who are unable to ride a Segway, and allow children aged 6 to 9 to join an adult. Safety helmets are compulsory and provided. Advance booking is essential; meet at the main visitor centre 30 minutes before departure.
