Event information
Orms and Canon, in partnership with SJ Artists, have opened entries for the seventh annual Sea Point Promenade Photographic Exhibition Competition. This year's theme, The Art of Photography, invites entrants to explore what separates a straightforward photograph from an intentional creative work, with no restriction on subject matter spanning portraiture, landscape, still life, architecture or abstract and conceptual work.
Twenty selected images will be enlarged and displayed as outdoor artworks along the Sea Point Promenade, continuing a format that has run for six previous years and featured 120 photographers to date. Entrants may submit up to five images at a time, with unlimited submissions allowed, provided all images are landscape-format JPEGs under 5MB.
Prizes total R100,000 across three places. First prize includes a Canon EOS R8 body with an RF 28-70mm f/2.8 lens and a R10,000 Orms Print Room voucher. Second prize includes a Canon EOS R50 Creator Kit and a R5,000 Orms Print Room voucher, while third prize includes a Canon PowerShot V1 and a further R5,000 Orms Print Room voucher.
Judging is handled by Orms managing director Jason Ormrod, Canon business development manager Roger Machin, SJ Artists founder Shani Judes and Norval Foundation curator Tayla Hollamby. Finalists will be asked to submit high-resolution TIFF files for large-format A0 printing, with no watermarks permitted on final prints.
