Scootours operates guided downhill tours on non-motorised Swiss Monster Mountain Scooters. The concept originated in Switzerland, where the same scooters are used to descend ski slopes in summer; at the Stellenbosch location, a 4x4 vehicle transports participants to the top of the route, with the ascent forming part of the experience.
The 45-minute tour follows a purpose-built trail through vineyards, over small wooden bridges and along tracks with views of the Groot Drakenstein and Simonsberg Mountains. Each session begins with a practice run and safety briefing. Guides accompany all tours and a photographer is on hand to capture action shots, which can be purchased at the end of the session. Equipment, a guide and a bottle of water are included in the ticket price. The Banhoek location also offers traditional archery as a standalone or combo booking, and caters for corporate team-building events of up to 75 people.
After the tour, the adjacent Banhoek Chilli Oil Company restaurant serves pizza and burgers on site. Closed shoes and a windbreaker are required. Walk-ins are welcome at the Banhoek location, though advance booking is recommended for groups.
