Event information
The SOSF Shark Education Centre is home to a collection of state-of-the-art exhibits that aim to provide visitors with an engaging, multi-sensory experience. Guided tours last approximately one hour and are limited to small groups.
Visitors explore the underwater world while having fun, whether with shark bingo or through using the microscope to discover details of marine life too small for the naked eye. There is also an audiovisual dome for a private Q&A with the world’s top shark and ray scientists.
The Centre uses art to recreate a magical underwater realm, using colourful murals and sculptures made of recycled materials.
Visiting school or community groups receive a structured programme of educational activities, including one or two presentation-based classes, followed by educational games and activities that help to reinforce the lessons learnt. The lesson might include a visit to the Dalebrook rocky shore (weather and tide permitting).
Public tours last approx one hour, and school / group bookings are approx 3 hours. All are free but must be booked in advance.
