Event information
One of the country's biggest Amapiano singer-songwriters, Samthing Soweto, is playing his 2025 album, 'Touch is a Move: Good Morning', live for the very first time.
The performance combines a full band, simple lighting, and Samthing's soulful vocals for an intimate live show that focuses more on storytelling than on large-scale production. The album reflects various aspects of his troubled upbringing growing up in the kasi, with the music and lyrics portraying an ordinary day in his native Soweto as a five-year-old.
Samthing Soweto, born Samkelo Lelethu Mdolomba, was involved in various criminal activities as a Sowetan child, resulting in a sentence to a youth detention centre. While there, he started making music full-time, eventually helping to form the a cappella group The Soil. Since then, he has featured on various chart-topping tracks, including Heavy-K's 'Ulele' and Sun-El Musician's 'Akanamali', and won the South African Music Award for Best Afro-pop Album in 2020. Highly regarded for his singing voice, intimate storytelling, and genre versatility, he has become a prominent figure in South African music, with multiple platinum-certified records and successful tours.
