Event information
Two exhibitions - both tackling the theme of war and conflict - serve to visually compliment each other while documenting different conflicts across different mediums.
Ade Kipades' work in 'Massacre of the Paint Tubes' is on display alongside Ingrid Piprek's 'Aftermath: Making Art from War'. The two together offer a moving space to consider war's emotional and physical devastation.
Using paint as his medium, Kipades reflects on the Israeli bombing of Gaza and the mass killing of children in 2023. He encourages viewers to create their own dialogue in response to his works, depending on their perspective.
The late Berlin-born Ingrid Piprek's exhibition features a series of fibre artworks which document her experiences living through the Second World War. The artist's textile pieces focus on her childhood, plagued by war-induced hunger, violence, and destruction.
