Event information
Housed in the Library Gardens Complex in Polokwane, the museum is a modern venue where visitors are entertained and their interest sparked by a dynamic interchange of exhibitions, especially in high season from August to December. It features a variety of art, including paintings, sculpture and historic pieces.
The Polokwane Art Museum boasts more than 1200, and growing, pieces of art and is the most extensive municipal collection. It features local art icons, such as the celebrated Jackson Hlungwani, Samson Mudzunga, Johannes Segogela, John Baloyi, Avhashoni Mainganye and Lucas Thobejane. The month of August is always dedicated to displaying the works of artists in Limpopo province.
Two outdoors components also form part of the museum: one is the Industrial Art Park on the N1 north to Makhado, and the other is the bronze and steel sculptures placed all over Polokwane, with the main focus being the City Plaza.
