Event information
Polkadraai Farm is a working strawberry farm that opens its fields to the public for pick-your-own harvesting each season, typically from September through to January. The farm has been producing strawberries for several decades and holds GlobalGAP certification, an internationally recognised food safety and good agricultural practice standard audited annually by an independent third party.
Strawberry picking is priced per basket, which visitors take home filled with their harvest. The farm employs drip irrigation, plastic mulching and integrated pest management techniques, including the introduction of natural insect predators, as part of its sustainability approach.
Beyond the strawberry fields, the farm accommodates a bike park, tractor rides, pony rides, pedal karts, mini golf, a playground, a food court and a food and wine shop stocking jams, preserves, dried fruit, estate wines and farm produce. The farm stall also carries a selection of local wines. Groups and school tours can be arranged in advance. Ample on-site parking is available. No outside food is permitted on the property.
