Oranjezicht City Farm hosts a spring holiday workshop for children, led by early childhood educator Isabella Hulme and built around nature-based creative play. Children begin with a treasure hunt across the working city farm, collecting natural elements along the way, before combining the gathered botanical materials into a layered, multi-media art piece.
Hulme’s approach draws on the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy, forest school practice and therapeutic art facilitation, with sessions designed to give children space to follow their own curiosity rather than complete a fixed, predetermined project. All materials are supplied, and the session runs regardless of weather, with children asked to come dressed for any conditions.
The workshop is one of several school holiday sessions the farm runs through its Spring programme, each led by different facilitators and centred on hands-on engagement with the farm environment itself.
