Event information
The Owl Rescue Centre is a non-profit organisation situated in Hartbeespoort. It was founded by Brendan and Danelle Murray who acquired the farm to protect and treat injured owls in order to preserve their population numbers and quality of life.
As such, the sanctuary limits human interaction and runs special night-time Owl Walks only. The animals can be observed visiting various feeding platforms around the sanctuary. Booking is essential to participate in these events, where staff support feed released owls by placing food on feeding platforms around the reserve every night.
This is the only raptor centre in South Africa that focuses on owls. The sanctuary also sells owl houses and owl-friendly rat traps.
