Night Run to Honour Nurses

Event information

The Exceptional Nurse Campaign was founded by Sister Teresa Basson with the aim of raising awareness of the critical shortage of professional nurses in South Africa and promoting public recognition of the nursing profession.

The Night Run to Honour Nurses is a 7km evening fun run along the Mouille Point promenade, starting at the Mouille Point Lighthouse. The event is organised by The Exceptional Nurse Campaign and raises funds for nursing bursaries, with proceeds used to train exceptional nurses and support student nurses in specialising in nursing education.

The 7km route is symbolic of the 7-to-7 shifts worked by nurses. The event is family-friendly and open to all, and welcomes runners, walkers and joggers of all fitness levels. Partners for the 2026 edition include Bramley, Run/Walk for Life, and Denosa (Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa).

Entries are capped at 2,000 and close the day before the event. All runners must carry their race ticket on the day; headlamps are required after 6pm and bright-coloured clothing is strongly encouraged. A water station is provided at the halfway mark. No dogs or bicycles may participate. Public parking is available in the area. Entries are non-refundable.
