The Cape Town Museum of Childhood marks its fifth anniversary with an after-hours birthday celebration, opening its doors for an evening of food, stories and games. The museum, Africa's first dedicated to the heritage and history of childhood, operates as a project of the Centre for Early Childhood Development and offers free entry year-round.
The birthday evening includes a story reading session aimed at younger children and a scavenger hunt for older ones, alongside spot prizes throughout the night. Food is available for purchase from three vendors: the Cape Malay Food Truck, Napoli Pizza and Two Scoops of Happiness, covering a savoury and sweet range for different tastes.
Since opening, the museum has run a wide range of community outreach programmes across the Western Cape, including story-reading visits to schools and early childhood centres, photography projects with local high schools, and collaborations with organisations such as Iziko Museums and the College of Magic.
Attendance requires an RSVP by email, including the number of children attending, ahead of the event.
