A major gaming event and tournament, the MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience is back for its second year as the country’s largest national mall-based gaming tournament. The event aims to make esports accessible to everyone, bringing people from all walks of life together to participate in the thrilling world of esports.
From June to September 2024, eight qualifier events will be held at Hyprop Malls nationwide, leading up to the National Final at Canal Walk in Cape Town in September. The featured game, EA FC 24™, appeals to a wide age group, ensuring there's something for everyone, from casual players to seasoned pros.
Players can sign up at various Hyprop Malls to participate in one of the seven heats held from Friday to Sunday. The top four players from each heat will advance to the Mall Final, joining the four online qualifiers.
In addition to the main eFootball tournament, attendees can enjoy a variety of smaller competitions and activations, including Beatsaber VR competitions, pop-up shops with exclusive gaming gear, and opportunities to compete in popular PC games like Minecraft, Rocket League and Fortnite.
Participants can also join racing games, keyboard rebuild challenges, and daily fighting game tournaments (Tekken, Street Fighter) with prizes. Additionally, there’s a major Call of Duty Tournament with a R60,000 prize pool.
