Event information
Protea Farm, located 29 km from Montagu and a two-hour drive from Cape Town, is renowned for its scenic tractor trips, a must-try adventure for visitors. This 2.5-hour journey up the majestic Langeberg Mountain has been a tradition since 1985, offering breathtaking views and unique experiences for the whole family.
The tractor ascends to 1500 meters above sea level, providing panoramic vistas of the Breede River, Keisie, and Koo Valley. A stop at the Arangieskop hut allows guests to enjoy Muscadel wine and dried fruit while soaking in the serene mountain atmosphere. On the descent, travelers can take in more stunning views, including the distant Matroos mountain and the rolling landscapes of the Koo Valley.
The farm’s name originates from the wild proteas flourishing in the surrounding mountains. In addition to its tractor trips, Protea Farm operates as a working fruit farm, producing fresh apples, pears, plums, and apricots. The tractor excursions remain a highlight, blending adventure, local flavor, and natural beauty into an unforgettable experience.
