Event information
May.be is a group exhibition brought together by artist and teacher Janet Anderson, who selected particular artists simply because she’d love to hang a piece of their art on her own wall.
Whether the piece is bright and bold, subtle and alluring, a common thread between these artists is their intention to find a way to take a fresh look at the world.
Janet Anderson is exhibiting vibrant still lives (oil on board). Mike Hutchings - one of South Africa's most respected photographers - is presenting eight photographs inspired by ocean kayaking. Angela Briggs’s oil paintings take places she encounters as a starting point. Tamsyn Lancaster presents colourful yet sensitive work in ink on paper, while Maya Marshak, who also works on paper, has used subtle colour in playful studies of objects you might find on a nature table. Poet and academic Peter Anderson presents poetry and drawings. Recent Michaelis School of Art graduate Hope Lancaster is also exhibiting new work.
196 Victoria Road is a vibrant studio and gallery space in a historic building in Woodstock
The exhibition opens at 6pm on 14 May, with a walkabout on Saturday 23 May at 11am.
