There’s no shortage of good quality olive oil in South Africa, but Mardouw Olive Estate outside Swellendam goes the extra mile to offer premium extra virgin olive products. The oil won multiple prestigious awards and is considered a healthy and nutritious alternative to other oils in the kitchen.
To start, their location at the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains in the Breede River Valley shares a Mediterranean-type climate and soil conditions to grow some of the best olive cultivars. All olives are hand harvested and the entire process from tree to bottle is carefully vetted.
Mardouw Olive Estate also prefers the cold-pressed method, meaning olives are blended and processed in a temperature-controlled space within 24 hours after harvest.
The label recently launched the MARDOUW SKINCARE range made primarily from olives on the estate with hints of citrus. Currently, the flagship product is a quick-dissolving moisturising skin oil that’s suitable as a beauty base, body lotion, and massage oil. The moisturiser comes packed with potent antioxidants and can help reduce stretch marks and bruises.
