Event information
Mandelapalooza is a vibrant lifestyle event that celebrates Mandela Day. The event is hosted by radio presenter and popular foodie Nick Hamman and brings together local rock bands, artists, and the community to raise money for charity.
The artists taking the stage and supporting the cause include MTV Africa Music Award-nominated indie rock band Shortstraw, 'Serenade' rock band CrashCarBurn, and SAMA-nominated band The Black Cat Bones, all of whom have performed at past events.
A major goal of Mandelapalooza is to raise money for vulnerable children. This year, the event honours Sacha Ariel, a young boy diagnosed with a rare, devastating, and ultimately fatal genetic condition. In honour of Sacha, his family is raising funds to support advocacy, awareness, and practical assistance for South Africans and their families affected by rare diseases, and every ticket purchased for Mandelapalooza helps raise funds and awareness for this cause.
The event also features delicious food, fun contests and giveaways worth R50 000, including a guitar from Marshall Music.
