Event information
In an exciting collaborative effort, the Luna Clarinet Duo and Juliet String Quartet present music by Ponchielli, Mendelssohn and Prinsloo, with a world premiere by Matthijs van Dijk.
The Luna Duo brings together two of South Africa's leading clarinetists, Annelize de Villiers and Danielle Rossouw while the Juliet Quartet consists of Annien Shaw (violin), Matthew Stead (violin), Remi Ludick (viola) and Babette Roosenschoon (cello).
This eclectic programme showcases two works by local composers - Franco Prinsloo's Stringsongs (featuring Juliet Quartet), and Matthijs van Dijk’s newly composed sextet ‘Dances of Rebirth’.
The programme includes further works by Ponchielli and Mendelssohn, celebrating a diversity of styles, colours, atmospheres, and the perfect compatibility of this chamber music setup. Audiences can expect a kaleidoscope of charming melodies, fiery and impressive technical displays, and invigorating foot-stomping tunes and rhythms.
