Long Beach is a favourite amongst surfers and bodyboarders across Cape Town; however, it's the perfect place for a leisurely sheltered walk along the stretching coastline.
If you walk far enough, you'll be able to see and explore the ruins of the SS Kakapo, a steamship which shipwrecked in 1900 along the coast. The site is known for its ghostly reminders of the past, with the boiler, ribs, and rudders still visible in the sand. The exposed parts of the wreck can vary depending on the tide and sand movement.
