Lisbon Falls

Event information

The Lisbon Falls are the highest waterfalls in Mpumalanga. They are located in a tourist hub on the Panorama Route close to God's Window and the many other waterfalls in the province.

The waterfalls lie in a creek just north of Graskop on the R532 road outside the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. They are 94m high and named after the capital city of Portugal.

The Lisbon River plunges down in a double stream over a semicircular rock face. There is a 100m footpath leading from the parking area to a vantage point at the base of the falls which offers a spectacular view. Nearby there are some picnic spots to maximize the surrounds.

With its easy access and good viewing platforms Lisbon Falls make for a convenient and accessible pitstop. Bird lovers can keep an eye out for the many avian species that inhabit this scenic, self-drive Panorama Route. There are also African arts and crafts on sale.
