Cape Town Creative Academy runs a one-day lino printmaking workshop at its V&A Waterfront studio, guiding participants through carving, inking, rolling and pressing a design onto paper and cloth. The session covers how line, texture and contrast are cut into a surface and transferred through the print process, with the day structured to produce multiple finished prints from a single carved design.
The workshop is led by Lizl Roos, who holds an Honours degree in Visual Art from the University of Pretoria and has lectured at the University of Pretoria, Pretoria Technicon, Openwindow and Cape Town Creative Academy, where she currently serves as Student Success Advisor. Her own work has received a Merit Award at the Sasol New Signatures competition and is held in corporate collections including Absa, Telkom and Sasol.
The session is open to both beginners and more experienced creatives, with all materials supplied and participants leaving with their own finished prints and the practical grounding to continue printmaking independently.
The workshop is suited to ages 16 and up, and runs for a full day with breaks for a light lunch, snacks and refreshments.
