Art photographer Krisjan Rossouw is currently showing his third solo exhibition at The Gallery at Grande Provence wine farm in Franschhoek to share his creative vision of the African diaspora.
Titled KRX, the show is a capsule retrospective of the artist’s creative evolution since 2010 and includes un-exhibited works and a preview of his 2023 project, Obscura. The photographic style mainly depicts nudes set against a lush tropical backdrop with dark, moody lighting effects.
Rossouw is a self-taught artist whose style of working is unique and an in-depth process. Each image is often the result of a lengthy sitting with a model and digital experimentation with varied light sources to craft the desired outcome. ‘I would like to think that this is much how painters of the classical works approached their subjects. I strive to achieve my own version of this with light instead of paint’, says Rossouw.
KRX is a must-see for bold, iconic photographic artworks that highlights the vast pool of art in Africa.
