Event information
Klein Karoo Klassique returns to Oudtshoorn for its 17th edition, presenting three days of classical music, literature, visual art, wine and food at the Civic Centre and Banqueting Hall. The programme is scheduled so that festivalgoers can attend every performance without scheduling conflicts.
Three headline concerts anchor the weekend: the Klassique Gala Concert (7 August, 7pm) with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Richard Cock and pianist François du Toit; the CPO's first Klassique appearance in 13 years; Heimwee (8 August, 7pm), Cape Town Opera's tribute to soprano Mimi Coertse hosted by Charl du Plessis; and the Stellenbosch University Choir (9 August, 7pm), making their festival debut as part of the choir's 90th anniversary celebrations.
Chamber recitals span the three days, culminating in Cellissimo (9 August, 2pm) with eight CPO cellists and the world premiere of a new work by Shane Woodborne. Anna Davel and The Melisizwe Plaatjie Collective, winners of the 2026 KKNK Kanna Award for Best Production: Contemporary Music, perform a jazz set on Friday evening.
Free breakfast concerts run Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8am. Literary talks, a curated visual arts exhibition, and a daily wine tasting series hosted by Danie van der Merwe complete the programme. Tickets are available at the door before each recital (subject to availability), online, or from the KKNK office in Oudtshoorn. A limited Klassique Package covering eight recitals is available at a saving of more than 20%.
