Event information
Kite enthusiasts come together this October to fly kites at the 30th Cape Town International Kite Festival.
Hosted by Cape Mental Health, the annual event invites participants to see a variety of fantastic kites at Melkbosstrand Beach. It is also a great opportunity for families, friends, and colleagues to fly kites in the fresh air and support the Cape Mental Health charity initiative.
The festival features the EduKite Competition, a kite-decorating and kite-making contest for students from mainstream primary schools and schools for children with special educational needs. There are monetary prizes for the winning teams.
For the past 30 years, the Cape Town International Kite Festival has raised awareness for mental health by filling the sky with colourful kites of all shapes and sizes each October. This serves as an opportunity to promote mental well-being, shared by families, friends, and communities.
The Cape Town International Kite Festival is also raising funds for the essential mission of providing cost-free mental healthcare services to those in need.
