!Khwa ttu, the San Education and Culture Centre, in Yzerfontein, hosts its annual Heritage Day Festival celebrating diverse South African cultures around food, music and endless fun.
!Khwa ttu is a UNESCO World Heritage site, that offers an enriching experience of an immersive journey into the world of the descendants of the first indigenous people of Southern Africa. The !Khwa ttu Museum showcases a variety of artifacts and historical photos curated by The San community, exhibitions are interactive and engage the mind and body.
Visitors get a new understanding of The San spirit and survival as a community. In two rooms, they present San origins stories and art, alongside the latest archaeological and genetic findings about human origins.
The Heritage Festival includes a kids Zone with face-painting, arts and crafts activities, Live traditional music, food stalls with tastings, game drives, tours of the world-class interactive Heritage Centre, interactive drumming, Rieldans moves, !Khwa ttu homemade herbal tea tastings, craft beer and wine tastings, and West Coast craft and traditional food stalls.
